40 Day Daily Devotional – Day 21 – Book of Joshua – Chapter 12

Day 21

Devotional Reading:

Joshua 12 (KJV)

1Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:

Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and from the middle of the river, and from half Gilead, even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;

And from the plain to the sea of Chinneroth on the east, and unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea on the east, the way to Bethjeshimoth; and from the south, under Ashdothpisgah:

And the coast of Og king of Bashan, which was of the remnant of the giants, that dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei,

And reigned in mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all Bashan, unto the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and half Gilead, the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.

Them did Moses the servant of the Lord and the children of Israel smite: and Moses the servant of the Lord gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;

In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:

The king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is beside Bethel, one;

10 The king of Jerusalem, one; the king of Hebron, one;

11 The king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one;

12 The king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one;

13 The king of Debir, one; the king of Geder, one;

14 The king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one;

15 The king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one;

16 The king of Makkedah, one; the king of Bethel, one;

17 The king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one;

18 The king of Aphek, one; the king of Lasharon, one;

19 The king of Madon, one; the king of Hazor, one;

20 The king of Shimronmeron, one; the king of Achshaph, one;

21 The king of Taanach, one; the king of Megiddo, one;

22 The king of Kedesh, one; the king of Jokneam of Carmel, one;

23 The king of Dor in the coast of Dor, one; the king of the nations of Gilgal, one;

24 The king of Tirzah, one: all the kings thirty and one.

Well, how awesome is our God? Let me tell you words cannot describe how incredible, awesome, marvelous and tenacious He is. One thing in reading this chapter stop and take notice of the name and each place. They are strategically placed there to ensure us that when God makes a promise to us know that He is faithful to bring His Word to pass in our lives.

Isaiah 55: (KJV)

11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Deuteronomy 28 (KJV)

28 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.

God is a God that will not lie. If God said it, He will truly bring it to pass. When we see Joshua focus on what His assignment God brings him and Israel through with great triumph and great victory. When you obey the instructions of the Lord and move out on His Word, know that God is obligated to bring it to pass; what he has promised. I do understand that things do look scary and can be a bit intimidating when stepping out on God’s Word. However, know that God keeps His Word and that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

We must get over our fears and trust God for what looks impossible and see it as possible. Mary said according to your Word. What are we saying? God will fight for you, and He will teach you how to fight for Him and stand and be not moved. What an awesome and powerful God we serve. Know this, there is NONE like HIM in all the earth. He is the only one true wise God. He is faithful to His children that delight in Him and will give you the desires of your heart.

God told Joshua:

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

For this to happen Joshua had to move out and put his foot on some new land. What is holding you back? If God has given you an assignment and you have heard Him say go. Understand it’s your season to take the land. Know that what you been yearning for is out there. If you choose not to move, you cannot blame anyone for your disappointment or the place you are in spiritually. You must deal with the fear and keep it moving. Don’t let fear put you in a deadlock and have you blaming God and others for your levels of insecurities and fears.

God gave it to Joshua because God had to make good on his promise to Moses. Also, Joshua received because he obeyed. There are promises out there that are still waiting to be fulfilled. Don’t stay stuck, hear God instructions and follow and do not try to take a detour or abandoned His Word for your life. Stay on course. Victory is ahead. He will keep you from falling. If you can’t hear shut yourself in and determine in yourself like Jacob set, I will not let go until you bless me. You tell God I want to hear your voice and in your quest in the secret place (Psalm 91) know that He will answer according to Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 33:3(KJV)

3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

So look at yourself and tell yourself it’s time to move and possess (take, seize, acquire) some land.

Pray:

Father in the name of Jesus, I want to thank you for a new day and a new beginning. Knowing that you have made me more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. Thank you for ordering my steps today and giving me the boldness to walk in all that you have called me to do. I tear down; pull down, throw down any thing(s) that comes up against my mind and your perfect plan for my life. Today I decree that I am moving forward in Jesus name with all power, authority and victory. Thank you, God for ensuring me that I WIN!   In Jesus name, Amen!
