Create A New Memorial

DAY 5

Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem. Nehemiah 2:20 (KJV)

One thing about our past experiences negative or positive is that they will create memorials deep down on the inside without any notice. You are not even aware that they have been created until something present causes a response or reflection of your past.

When circumstances and situations have happened in our life they begin to build memories. When memories are birthed they take up space and have a portion of us. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. When we allow anything opposite of God’s will for our lives to build a memorial down on the inside of us the memorial will grow by what we feed it subconsciously or consciously.

Unfortunately, when this occurs we can be forced back in time to a place of bondage, wounding, rejections, abuse and etc. This will then cause our emotions and thoughts to feed our response. One must be willing to rehearse what God says about them regardless of the situations or the circumstances. I choose to believe what God says about me. I make a conscious decision to rehearse what God says about me daily and cause my emotions to line up to His will.

One thing that comes to memory is the story about Nehemiah and Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem.

Nehemiah 2:18-20 (KJV)

18 Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.

19 But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?

20 Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.

Nehemiah was persistent in letting them know that they will not be remembered here in Jerusalem. You must know what is your Jerusalem and what you want to be remembered and celebrated. Therefore, with no memorial, portion or right their behavior and their language against them cannot stand. Putting things in their proper place and dislodging something before it happens fortifies your being in the spirit. From the beginning letting a thought, word or deed know that you are not worth my attention. Then refocus yourself on the assignment that is ahead of you. Do not allow your flesh to get distracted.

Can someone say wow! This is a lot harder than it appears to be easier. But if you practice it – it will work. Do not allow your flesh to run off with an issue that was nailed to the cross. Have a visual. The next time you hear something or something tries to regurgitate itself up on you SEE THE CROSS.

This is a great part of walking in the spirit.

Galatians 5:16-26 (KJV)

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Therefore, strive to walk in the spirit by renewing your mind and killing your flesh.

Reflection:

Today spend some time destroy memorials that have damaged you. Begin to create a new memorial on the things that God has spoken about you. Then celebrate with praise!
